All of Europe is covered in blood. Cities are on fire.
Hundreds of thousands of people die under bullets and shells. They die of hunger and disease.
Poles and Swedes are at war. Germans and French.
Czechs and Danes. Everyone is at war.
There is a war that Europe has never seen before.
30 years of war. 1610-1648.

And suddenly – an unusually loud and eerie explosion. It is an explosion that destroys all the laws of space and time and transports Mother Courage from her 30-year war to the terrible war of today.
