Gregory Gelfer became the laureate of the Sholom Aleichem State Prize

The playwright and artistic director of the DGU Theater, our Hryhoriy Gelfer, became the winner of the 2026 Sholom Aleichem State Prize!

The high award was awarded toYes “SN. Almost a biblical story ”is a work that combines a philosophical parable, drama and conversation about responsibility, freedom and the power of human choice.

The Sholom Aleichem Prize is one of the most important state literary and artistic awards in Ukraine. It is celebrated by writers, translators, screenwriters and playwrights for works that promote the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Ukrainian and Jewish peoples and contribute to the spread of a positive image of Ukraine in the world.

This year, ten works were submitted to the award, and the winner was determined by the State Agency of Ukraine for Arts and Art Education.
